Matheran Trip

I had not written a blog last month mainly didn't find anything worthwhile to write, just leading a robotic life five days of the week and sleeping and drinking on weekends.

But last weekend was different, two of my friend and a colleague of mine decided to do some thing different this extended weekend(courtesy:Gandhi jee). We went to a hil station near mumbai called matheran, its a three hour journey from mumbai. We statrted early around 8 am and took a local from Dadar to Neral. We reached Neral by 10.30 am and took a shared taxi from their to Matheran(its a half hour journey).
Their we have booked a resort in advance and i tell you though the tariff drained our pockets but it was stiil worth all the money.it was in the middle of lush green forest.Though the start was not a good one, we have just settled in our cottage and where just chatting when two monkeys enterd our room and started frisking our bags, we were too frightened to do anything, two of us even got themselves locked in the monkey a timely rescue from the waiter saved not only our lives but more important our resources(D-:) which we have carried
from mumbai.Another good thing about the resort was that its tariff included meals and breakfast, so we had our first free lunch and after chatting for a while went for a half hour knap(which lasted three hours).
In the evening we started exploring matheran ,the town has numerous points(13 in mumber) which provide a scenic view of the valley, but since we had two more days so we decided to utilise our resources. This point(our cottage) which we found out to be the best we named it as the"OLD MONK POINT" and spent most of our weekend their. The second day morning we explored some of the points like Echo point, lake, alexander point etc, all very scenic but the fog was a big problem as it hindered the viewing. It rained in the second half so we stayed indoors and did what we know best that is again our favourite point.
Matheran is really a gem when you compare it with mimbai peaceful scenic and above all no noise, the onlydrawback i felt was the large number of monkeys that too ready to pounce on anythin eatable or what looked eatable but its not their blame as its their home not ours.
